Recent interviews on the Sovereign Fund of Kosova
While I use this venue mainly for academic and intellectual musings, I would like to share two recent interviews I gave recently on my work related to the establishment of a sovereign wealth/development fund (SWF/SDF) in Kosova/Kosovo.
In September 2021, I was asked by the Prime Minister of Kosova Albin Kurti to chair a working group tasked with developing a concept paper (known in Kosova legal language as a “Concept Document”) that establishes the need, objectives, and design for an investment, asset management, and development fund to be established by the Republic of Kosova.
In April 2022, the Concept Document was approved by the Government, and a coordinator appointed to manage the process of developing a legal framework for the Kosova Sovereign Fund (Fondi Sovran i Republikës së Kosovës). A legal team was put together which drafted the Law for the Sovereign Fund. The draft Law was approved by the Government on June 7, 2023. From here, it goes to Parliament for consideration.
The interview I gave to Top1000Funds.com describes the work we have done on the Fund, the models we have followed and how we see its future role. The Kosova SWF/SDF would be the first of its kind in the Western Balkans and beyond.
The other interview is for the Albanian-American newspaper Illyria, based on New York. This interview is in Albanian only, but may be translated with Google translate or another service.
